Our Permanent Antimicrobial Technology

To begin, our technology is why we are different than any medical apparel, or sportswear company for that matter - it's our passion and background in healthcare which drives our innovation forward in developing advanced fabrics that solve a problem. The problem being that over 60% of healthcare workers uniforms are colonized with healthcare associated infections because of cheap absorbent fabric used. (Reminder, HAIs kill over 75K patients a year and infect 1 in 25 admissions). This fabric is our solution to this problem.

Through a two year R&D initiative that our team has coined, Project FIT (Functional Integrated Technology), sought out to do what had never been done before - create a high performance permanent antimicrobial moisture wicking fabric with fluid resistant properties by blending advanced fibers. This was no easy task.

First, we partnered with leading antimicrobial biomaterials company, PurThread® Technologies. They make the bacteria fighting silver thread with evidence based lab studies verifying its effectiveness. It's so effective that it's been proven to kill MRSA, Staph and even Pneumonia upon fabric contact.

PurThread uses a recycled EPA registered silver from Kodak and breaks that down into a silver salt. Then they take it down to a molten level and embed it within the filament of a yarn. Boom. Silver embedded yarn happens. Now what? How do we get this amazing bacteria fighting fiber into a high speed performance fabric? Next, we consulted a research University.

How do we get this amazing bacteria fighting fiber into a high speed performance fabric? The adventure, and our eventual breakthrough was discovered by a lengthy Q & A discussion process with the PhD level Textile Engineers at NCSU. With their assistance we were finally able to figured out a feasible plan to develop our fabrics.

Then Came the Beta Tests

Now it's a great thing we're located in Los Angeles. LA is the mecca for apparel manufacturing and is home to some of the most state of the art fabric mills around. So we found one, pitched our vision to them and they believed in what we were trying to accomplish - create a revolutionary performance fabric that can reduce cross contamination in healthcare settings with a new fabric technology. Then the magic started happening...

What happened next was amazing. With unique fabric blend formula's we were experimenting with, the further we wanted to push more boundaries. They not only passed AATC antimicrobial testing with flying colors but it also out performed our expensive sportswear apparel. (We like to Beta test)
